Sustainability at Le Lee Studio

Prior to entering the bridal industry 15 years ago, our designer Lyndell was working as an Interior Architect at one of Australia's most prominent sustainable architectural firms that pioneered Environmentally Sustainable Designs (ESD). As a certified Green Star designer, she played an integral part in the national award winning project The University of Adelaide Innova 21. Hence, sustainability is something that has been at the forefront of Lyndell’s journey in creating Le Lee Studio and is something she holds very close to her heart.

From the design to production, packaging to daily office operations, Le Lee Studio strives to maintain thoughtful practices in all aspects of the process. Our gowns are designed locally in Sydney, Australia and the materials used as part of the design process - including patterning and calico - are sourced sustainably when possible and are carefully measured to avoid unnecessary waste.

Being a slow fashion bridal label, each Le Lee Studio gown is made-to-order. A bride’s dream wedding dress is only crafted after she says ‘yes’ to the dress to avoid mass production. Sample gowns that do not make it into cut are sold to brides at sample sales or donated to local op shops to avoid ending up in landfill.

Our tailors in the Le Lee Studio atelier have been handpicked by Lyndell to ensure that their processes align with our ethos. Lyndell is also very hands-on with the procurement of fabrics, ensuring material forecasting for each season is as accurate as possible to minimize excess wastage.

We support pre-loved and upcycling garments by having a small reserved stock of our fabric and lace. If you have recently purchased one of our second-hand gowns and require some additional fabric or lace for alterations, please reach out to us at office@leleestudio.com.au.

Le Lee Studio also continues to strive to make sustainable considerations around printing and packaging, including using biodegradable plastic, recycled cardboard, and reusing shipment materials when possible.

Come along with us, make your sustainable step forward, and support our brand and practices for more positive change.
